Sven

I would absolutely love one pundit to just turn round and say ‘you know what, these were stupid, inappropriate tweets made by a young man a long time ago, done in misguided humour but it’s total bollocks that he can get punished for it now and it’s not relevant to him playing cricket today’

And whoever leaked this on the day of his debut instead of perhaps when he got called up is a total bellend

Re: First Test - England v New Zealand at Lords
If the tweets as reported are the extent of it its very tame and certainly not the VIRULENT racism implied by the reaction of the ECB CEO who appears to have burst into tears and completely over reacted.

A load of old nonsense but obviously no other player or media person is allowed to say that.

All men are rapists and paedophiles = woke

'a lot of girls need to learn the art of class' = disgraceful sexism.

I also fail to see how the one about girls and video games is sexist. Substitute boys for girls and it's nothing. I can't even see that it's even insulting. Perhaps I'm missing something.

Ironically he is likely to be replaced in the squad by Craig Overton who as a 21yo 5 or 6 years ago was found guilty as a Somerset player of telling a Pakistani batsman to 'go back to your own fucking country'

Yeah this grass cunt needs outing, bang out of order and to do it on the day of his debut says that this person had it all lined and ready to put out there!

Re: First Test - England v New Zealand at Lords
Two questions need to be asked:

1. Does Ollie Robinson still hold the views or does he "honestly" realise the remarks made nearly a decade ago were wrong?

2. Is the purpose of BLM et al to help to change minds and alter actions? (rather than an excuse to vilify others to make ourselves feel holier than thou)

If the answer to both is yes then he should be held up as a positive example of what we (as a society) can do.

I have a feeling it's the answer to number 2 that's the issue here.

Stewie

There’s another one asking if Asian people use the two vertical line symbol instead of a colon to type a smiley face

And something derogatory about women

Basically, nothing anywhere near as bad as what Stokes has done and he’s done ok out of it

For fuck sake Ian Botham broke a hotel bed whilst screwing a woman who wasn’t his wife whilst doing cannabis. He wasn’t banned.

Just copped the 9 week ban, for cannabis possession.

Rumour has it England will play the next Test missing the following:

IPL:
Stokes
Woakes
Buttler
Bairstow
Ali
Archer
Curran

Injured:
Foakes

Rested:
Anderson
Wood

Suspended:
Robinson

Astonishing depth to still compete with the best Test side in the world.

Totally agree 67

If you’re going to claim something someone tweeted years before they were famous or joined your company/club etc has a negative impact on you then you have a responsibility to check everything before hand

They were stupid tweets but it’s all blown way out of proportion

Bruu - maybe there was more but the only one I saw was something like 'I have a new Muslim friend. He's the bomb ' ... or something like that. Stupid shit jokes rather than any kind of dangerous rhetoric.

Its all bollock he would not have known at the time he was going be playing test cricket for England

Vet everyone's tweets or any posts on social media before giving them a cap for any sport there would be no players

Tom Harrison can fuck off.

For fuck sake Ian Botham broke a hotel bed whilst screwing a woman who wasn’t his wife whilst doing cannabis. He wasn’t banned.

What is wrong with this country?

Let he without sin cast the first stone.

Who is the meddling little cunt or cunts that take it upon themselves to find this historical data ?

They must be a riot at parties

Re: First Test - England v New Zealand at Lords
Fucking scandalous.

Whoever spent time trawling through historic tweets needs naming and shaming. Absolutely disgraceful from the ECB.

This country sinks lower every day, we are being shouted at by the woke minority and we are allowing it.

The whole of the England team should have refused to play the next match.

Joke of a country.

Re: First Test - England v New Zealand at Lords
Below is the statement that Tom Harrison the ECB CEO posted when these tweets from when Robinson was 18 or 19 came to light .... some immature, tasteless nonsense from a stupid kid

Tom Harrison, ECB Chief Executive Officer, said:
"I do not have the words to express how disappointed I am that an England Men’s player has chosen to write tweets of this nature, however long ago that might have been.
Any person reading those words, particularly a woman or person of colour, would take away an image of cricket and cricketers that is completely unacceptable. We are better than this.
We have a zero-tolerance stance to any form of discrimination and there are rules in place that handle conduct of this nature. We will initiate a full investigation as part of our disciplinary process. "

Thought it was an extraordinary prejudgement and meant no mercy was going to be shown.
Think the main reason was that HE was embarrassed after England spent the morning of the First Test wearing some WOKE t-shirts

Tak.

Its not so much the grassing its more about people getting careers ruined over stuff they said as a kid. I really think thag parts of modern society wont be happy until human thought and emotion are eradicated and the world is full of robots.
